West Baton Rouge Museum
Port Allen, LA

Join the West Baton Rouge for "Boats of the Basin: Design, Function, and Form for the Life Aquatic," a lunchtime lecture and film screening with filmmaker C.E. Richard of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Richard will discuss some of the boats that evolved in the Basin for living, working and playing by and for the people who made the wilds of the Atchafalaya Basin their home. The short film "In the Mind of the Maker," which documents the construction of a rare creole rowing skiff, will also be screened. This event is free and participants are welcome to bring a bag lunch.
