Management Plan
In 1997 the Louisiana Legislature designated the multi-parish region the Atchafalaya Trace Heritage Area. In October 2006, Congress designated the region as the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area. The Atchafalaya Trace Commission was charged with planning and managing the area so that our communities can save important cultural and natural resources, tell our stories, enhance the positive benefits of tourism, and create a sustainable, healthy economy.
