Research has shown that there is a direct correlation between healthy childhood development and exposure to the outdoors. In an age where video games are accessible through cell phones and tablets it is sometimes difficult to find ways to pull our growing youth away from electronics and into the outdoors. Because of this, our children are suffering with issues from everything from obesity to depression.
If you are a parent or grandparent of a child who can relate and would like to bring your child outdoors, this is the workshop for you. Kevin Wallis, one of Pack & Paddle's guides and a local Scout leader, will share advice on what gear to look for, how to predict the weather and safety concerns to be aware of. He will also cover the top five places in our area to hike and camp. Amy Liuzza, a store buyer, seasoned paddler and mother of a young toddler, will share her favorite paddle spots and discuss what it would be like to attend one of our Level One trips.
