Shadows-on-the-Teche
317 East Main Street
New Iberia, LA
Campers will engage in many activities at the Shadows-on-the-Teche History Camp, which gives them a glimpse of what life might have been like in New Iberia in the 1800s. Daily life back then consisted of a series of tasks which had to be completed each day, including hauling water from cisterns, gathering eggs and feeding animals. The town's residents looked forward to events, such as the arrival of a circus, that interrupted the monotony of daily work.
This year, campers ages 6 to 11 will explore circus-themed games, crafts and seven different activities Monday, June 12, through Friday, June 16, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The week will culminate with the campers' performance inside the Shadows Visitor Center on Friday afternoon.
An admission fee of $125 per child. A limited number of participants will be accepted (35 campers total). Parents should send in applications with a check to confirm their child's registration by May 20.
