11:30 a.m. - Brunch
After a fifteen-year hiatus, Jazz Brunch returns to the LeJeune House in New Roads, the site of the very first Historical Society Jazz Brunch almost 25 years ago. LeJeune House is a Louisiana Creole style plantation home dating back to the early 1800s which has been featured in Louisiana Life, Southern Living, and Garden & Gun. Guests will be welcome to enjoy a tour of the home prior to the brunch.
This brunch promises to be a delightful outing on gorgeous grounds, featuring heritage plants that were grown in Louisiana gardens before 1860 and a tan ancient live oak, called the Francois Samson Oak on the Live Oak Society Register.
Music will be provided by the Mike Esnault Trio, with featured vocalist Sarah Robinson of Lafayette. An Emmy Award-winning pianist and composer, Esnault has enjoyed success performing live, on television, cinema, and radio, in addition to his triumphs as a recording artist. Mike and Sarah were most recently seen together in ‘Manship Theatre Celebrates the Great American Songbook’ in Baton Rouge in August 2018. Sarah has performed with The Lira Ensemble in Chicago, a traditional Polish singing ensemble, and with Musika SamaSama, the Together Concert with Lea Solanga. She is a graduate of the music program at Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin.
