Dr. Jessica Harris, a recognized expert in the field of the history of slavery in the United States, Afroculinaria, and the foodways of the diaspora community, will present information to on the history of slavery, food, and modern southern cooking in the United States, and lead a tasting of traditional vegetable dishes.
In addition to Dr. Harris' presentation, speakers from across Louisiana and the nation will address the role of Louisiana’s history with slavery in the present day.
