A Hollywood-style event comes to Morganza. The Morganza Cultural District is hosting an evening of peace, love, music, and movies based around the history of the Celebration of Life Festival. Also known as “Louisiana’s Woodstock”, the festival took place in June of 1971 near McCrea, LA in northern Pointe Coupee Parish and is most widely remembered as a complete failure. Highlighting the event is an exclusive one-night-only screening of the 2011 documentary film of the festival.
Attendees of the event are encouraged to dress in early-'70s attire to take advantage of their walk down a Hollywood-style red carpet and photo opportunities with a fully restored Volkswagen van. In addition to music from local musicians, there will be a presentation by Dr. Joe Burns, SLU Professor of Communications and host of the "Rock School Radio Show".
