Back in the Day: A Celebration of Folk Traditions

Second annual living history demonstration event and cochon de lait. Along with a costumed guide, visitors can tour an 1815 raised Creole cottage plantation home surrounding manicured grounds. Demonstrations will be occurring throughout the day and may include: farrier demonstrations, sugarcane harvesting/syrup making, storytelling, blacksmithing, circle dancing, chair caning, soap production, outdoor cooking, spinning/weaving and much more. Live music throughout the day. 10am - 3pm. Subject to weather conditions. Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site, Located at 1200 N. Main St., St. Martinville. Visitors can also tour the Interpretive Museum, Olivier plantation house and Acadian farmstead. 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
