City Nature Challenge 2021

Event Dates: April 30th, 2021 - May 9th, 2021

Calling all nature enthusiasts, family adventurers, and ecologists!

The greater Baton Rouge region will be competing in the 2021 City Nature Challenge, along with more than 350 cities around the world. Which city can document the most wildlife in 4 days? Here are two ways to participate:

April 30 - May 3: Get outside! Whether in a backyard, local park, or favorite nature spot anywhere in the Baton Rouge region, take photos of animals, plants, and other wild organisms and share them on the free iNaturalist app or at iNaturalist.org. In addition to helping Baton Rouge compete in this global challenge, your observations will become data that could benefit research.
May 4 – May 9: If you consider yourself skilled at species ID, we need you! During ID week, help turn casual observations into research-grade data from the comfort of your own computer.
