EVENT DETAILS:
16th Annual Gumbo Cook-Off
Event Date: January 29th, 2022
The Gumbo Foundation is cooking for a cause in perfectly seasoned Opelousas. Every year, the foundation rounds up area chefs who are willing to compete for “best gumbo”, an honor held high in Louisiana. Event chefs and volunteers are working hard for the benefactor of the event proceeds, a local child in need. All the proceeds from the cook-off benefit a child and family who are burdened with medical and related expenses.
Last year, the competition took place virtually. There were several live sessions throughout the day, including event organizers and staff, participating teams, and musical guest performances. In 2022, the event is back in person and proceeds go to benefit Zaidee Thibodeaux who was diagnosed with Infintile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy, a rare terminal illness that affects the nervous system. Stay tuned for more event details.
